wow, almost 60% !!! ok ur the person to catch upto first :P

u know i used to think anything pudding was consumable, but of course i hadnt come across black pudding then hehe ..... and i'd sooner eat haggis than head cheese ugh! atleast once cooked, the haggis on ur plate doesnt resemble what it is, and more to the point tastes good ... the head cheese i've seen in stores always looks so scary !!! and how abt snails, even if they are fancified with escargot, they scare me a bit :D

i love some of the stuff u dont like much, like calamari and the steamed pork buns (assumed it was the chinese ones too), even wasabi peas .... totally agree with the classification on Spam. i havnt even tasted it but i know i wont go there. even the hostess fruit pie ..... root beer must be an acquired taste, neither me nor hubby like it much either ....

wish i hadnt read abt kolhapuri mutton early in the morning, now i'll go around dreaming of that :(

hey, and isnt that phall thing strange? i was thinking it was thai because of the name and u cld have zapped me when i saw indian curry ... have to ask arnd. if u ever find out let me know ...

ps... do u ever watch bizarre foods with andrew zimmern on the travel channel ?? he did goa last night, fun and yummy ... but a bad thing to watch after a salad dinner !!

cp :)) smita :)) & avdi :))
First, all of you are certainly welcome at my home; and I promise the menu WILL NOT be crocodiles, snails, intestines, and chilled monkey brain (remember that)

Now that 60 % is slight stretch. A more stringent rule, say have you eaten more than 3 times would only yield 25 items. Also, the items on this list that I actually Like and would recommend are far fewer,
Huevos Rancheros, Borscht, PB&J, Aloo Gobi, Pistachio Ice Cream, Hierloom tomatoes, Fresh Wild berries, Baklava, Salted Lassi, Cognac, Chicken Tikka Masala, Paneer, Fried Plaintain & Gazpacho;
and of course the tasting menu.

Yes that black pudding sounds gross. After you mentioned haggis, I looked it up; it may not be so bad. Agree on head cheese, though escargot is pretty decent, they usually cook it in a garlic & wine sauce.
Definitely stay away from Spam, I tried it once ugggh !!!!, also stay away from hostess fruit pies, totally gross. Root beer is a kids drink, and I have to schlep it home for each party (tastes like iodex the medicine.)
A big yes to Kolhapuri Mutton, you know the best foodies on MS (Vikram Karve) describes it so wonderfully.
Same with phall ??? What is that ???
Never watched that show, but Goa!!!; I still remember my one and only trip.
Thanks

Smita :)
This list was created by an Anglo-Saxon; I am sure you will do much better on an Indian created list.
Also, I bet the books read + items eaten; bot you & CP would come out way ahead.

Avdi :)
As I already said, you are most welcome; and no crocs or sea urchins.

samir said...

Damn, how does one edit comments here.
Forgot to add Avdi to the list of
books+food >>> than avg.
Also, forget to add Jamaican Blue Mtn. Coffee to likes & recommended.

Yes Vikram Karve is the best, try his "Purepur Kolhapur" @
http://www.mouthshut.com/review/Poona_Coffee_House_Restaurant_-_Pune-115522-1.html
The mutton described in there is I think referred to as Mutton Fry, but I also like the traditional one with gravy.

Hmm. re: that tag, I suppose I have to invent something :D
